L’Aquila is the chief town of the region of Abruzzo, situated at 721 meters on sea-level, near the Gran Sasso Mountain. It’s an important centre for its historical origins and its architectural monuments, most of them still to be found within into the medieval town walls.

L’Aquila has a typical chessboard structure, with many different levels, with fiew streets on the level; this gives the city a medieval aspect, increased by unexpected and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Its population also boasts noble cultural origins, cultivated through theatrical, musical and artistic manifestations: Abruzzo National Museum, Stabile Theatre, Fine Arts Academy and L’Aquila Concerts Company.
